Franchisor Profile

Growing up, former NSW NPL Player and KANO Football founder Ehsan Popal played football fanatically. He rose through the ranks fast, playing semi-professionally with the Sutherland Sharks before taking up coaching in his late teens. At the time, he’d experienced firsthand the challenges of trying to excel in the game and wanted to improve the standard for coaching and training to give players better opportunities. After a few years of honing his coaching skills, Ehsan first launched Football Sydney in 2011 with a modest $2000 investment. He was passionate about coaching community teams, tired of seeing them discarded by coaches more interested in developing elite leagues. From 2014-2019, the business rebranded to T3, and Ehsan developed strong international connections with top figures in Japan’s football industry who had successfully used grassroots coaching to improve their own national outcomes. These connections paved the way for significant growth, and soon T3 was everywhere, featured on Fox Sports and SBS. Since then, T3 has become KANO Football, and the core belief in grassroots community building and authenticity through purpose has remained the same. This ethos has seen Ehsan’s business grow from 3 coaches to a dedicated team of 60, positively impacting underdeveloped communities across NSW and Victoria.  Now, Ehsan is ready to scale KANO Football again, taking his proven method of coaching nationwide in partnership with coaches who share his vision for grassroots reform and improvement in the coaching space.
