Hospitality is a family business for Thomas Kendall, whose parents were restaurant owners while he was growing up. He married a natural cook with an eye for detail and the two followed in his parent’s footsteps, owning and operating their own thriving hospitality business. Tom and his partner have now been leaders in the hospitality industry for almost a decade. Their long-standing frozen yoghurt shop in Thailand opened in 2014 and has been a popular spot amongst locals and tourists ever since. Eager to embark on their next project, when the opportunity to buy Island Wholefoods became available in 2019 the two jumped at the chance and have worked hard to scale and improve the business in the years that have followed.

When they took ownership of the business, they realised many of the meat and dairy alternatives available to cafes were not comparable to their animal-based counterparts, but they knew they could be. The dynamic duo got in the kitchen and set about developing plant-based products unlike any other. Quickly they developed a reputation for their exclusive meat and dairy free ingredients that had customers travelling from all over. After almost a decade in the hospitality industry, they have established a franchise model that sees a cottage industry operating on an industrial scale and are enthusiastic to welcome new franchisees.
